Our experience.
Hack Fed Square (Fed Square)
We designed and facilitated 'Hack Fed Square' the flagship event of the City of Melbourne's Melbourne Knowledge Week 2019. Our objective was to bring together passionate thinkers, makers and creators of the community to design the future of this iconic landmark. Following our creative Design Hack process, influenced by Design Thinking and Design Sprints, we guided participants through the creative activities to help them develop well crafted ideas that they would then pitch to an expert panel of judges for a chance to win a number of prizes.
We worked with the Fed Square team to refine a problem statement, build out a judging criteria and used our experience to help teams promote the event and maximise the relationships built from people involved in the day. Ideas from this hack were further explored and deployed by the Fed Square team.
Hack the Zoo: Reimagining Frogs
(Zoos Victoria)
We designed and facilitated the first hack event to be held at Melbourne Zoo. Zoos Victoria heavily invests in the business of fighting wildlife extinction and knows that connecting Zoo Visitors to the plight of frog species is an important element of saving species from extinction. 80 applicants were selected to be a part of this event to design a concept for the visitor experience of a brand new Frog research Centre that will engage and excite Zoo Visitors and inspire them to take action for local threatened frog species.
By involving the community in the ideation of new experiences at the Zoo, Zoos Victoria believed that more clarity of vision surrounding the problem could be given which is sometimes obscured to the staff at the Zoo because of their proximity to the subject matter. Ideas from this hack to engage visitors in the plight of the Corroboree frog have since been instigated at the Zoo.
Global Goal Jam (SDG Ideas)
Led by the passion of a group of innovative industry leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs from organisations across Australia, there was a desire to find a way to unlock potential collaborative projects using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a lens.
It was essential to facilitate this in a ’virtual world’ so that anyone could participate. The Global Goals Ideas Jam was developed as an active ideation and collaboration innovation sprint to unlock SDGs projects and ultimately scope out Proof Of Concepts to turn ideas into action.
Reimagining the City - Emerging Tech Testbed (City of Melbourne)
As event delivery partners, we supported City of Melbourne to curate, mentor pitch finalists and deliver a personable and engaging online event, coordinating technical delivery and managing speakers, finalists and judges. CoM invited entrepreneurs, individuals, universities, researchers, startup, scaleups and established organisations to submit their emerging technology solutions that respond to the challenge: “How might we reimagine experiences, spaces and places so that they are vibrant and inclusive, promoting social connection and creating new reasons to live, work and play in Melbourne?”
